5 miles north of San Francisco is the city of Larkspur. The city stands at an elevation of 43 feet, and it is home to over 12,000 city dwellers. First laid out by Charles W. Wright in 1887, Larkspur was incorporated in 1908. The city is divided into two areas, Highway 101 on the west and Larkspur Landing area on the east.There are lots of interesting and fun-filled places in the city. The most interesting of them all is the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal where visitors and city dwellers can pick a ferry heading to San Francisco. The ride lets fun seekers savor the scenic view of the golden bridge and Mt. Tamalpais. There are several parks in Larkspur, each accommodating outdoor sport activities like kayaking and lots more. The city is dotted with lots of historic buildings, with some dating back to 1889.
